Creator Q&A

Tell us about yourself

Kaleidoscope is a collective of talented writers, artists, and producers from all over the world working together to make the highest quality biblical content for kids.

For years, we only produced content for print. During that time, our customers frequently asked, "When will you make Kaleidoscope available for audio?" The questions kept coming until, one day, we found Yoro and decided to make the leap.

To date, thousands of families, churches, and schools have made Kaleidoscope Yoto Cards their "go-to" for biblical content for kids.

What inspired you to make this title(s)?

The story of how we found our narrator is super fun! Years ago, while at a kid's birthday party, our founder, Chris, heard one of his friends, Stephen, telling a group of children a story in a voice so entertaining that the entire party, adults and all, stopped to listen.

Chris thought, "If we ever do audio at Kaleidoscope, I want Stephen's voice as our narrator." When the time came for Kaleidoscope to move to audio, all it took was one phone call, and Stephen has been the enchanting voice of Kaleidoscope ever since. Here's a fun fact - the music on our Yoto Cards was written and played by Stephen as well! Quite a talented guy!

"While at a kid's birthday party, we heard a friend telling a story so well that the entire party, adults and all, stopped to listen. That friend is now our narrator!"

Who do you imagine listening to your audio?

We picture kids listening to our books while swinging in back porch hammocks, on long car trips, before bed time, and during afternoon rest times. Whether you have five minutes or an hour, anytime is great time to listen to Kaleidoscope.

Is there anything different about making audio for Yoto?

Yoto is such a natural fit for Kaleidoscope. In a world where everything is moving toward digital, we still think there is great value in the physical, tactile nature of Yoto players.

In fact, for years we were hesitant to make the move from physical books to audio because we did not want to lose the experience of touching, using, sharing, collecting, and borrowing physical resources. Once we found Yoto, we knew we had found a perfect partner for Kaleidoscope!

What’s next?

Oh, do we ever! We plan to have the entire Kaleidoscope library—every book of the Bible on Yoto Cards. Check back often as we plan to release a new card every few months!
